Gender-Field in User model

at the moment we have this code:

    MALE = "m"
    FEMALE = "f"
    GENDER_CHOICES = ((MALE, (_("Mr"))), (FEMALE, (_("Mrs"))))

    gender = models.CharField(
        verbose_name=_("Salutation"), max_length=1, choices=GENDER_CHOICES, blank=True
    )

is this necessary? do we need to know the gender? apparently it is used for salutation basically ("Mr", "Mrs"). I'd argue it's not that important.

@tatenda.lemann i'm giving you this ticket because a) Kurt is not here right now but also b) it seemed like these content-relevant questions were more your department anyways?
