Each machine comes with four network switches with eight 1G, 4 10G ports each. In order for these to operate correctly and use the 10G connections as a network ring, they need to be flashed with the correct configuration.
Unless the switches have been delivered preinstalled, you can flash these switches from the master node (via the administrative panel on the Panel PC). In order to do this, you will need to prepare some things first:
Please consult the example label from a switch - please enter the blue-boxed MAC address for each switch into the hardware database under the hardware fields 'S1' through 'S4'.
Flashing Switch 2
This switch is easiest to flash first in any initial install, as it is directly connected to the first master node, and requires no additional physical setup. Simply execute the 'Flash Switch 2' command with the master node, and the install will happen automatically.
Flashing Switch 1
This switch is situated ready for the front eight cameras. To flash this switch on initial install, plug a 10G DAC cable between port 12 on Switch 2, and port 12 on Switch 1, then execute the 'Flash Switch 1' command. Please remove the cable in port 12 after use.
Flashing Switch 3
This switch is in the position for the secondary master and the other compute node and PLC. To flash this switch on initial install, plug a 10G DAC cable between port 12 on Switch 3, and port 12 on Switch 2, then execute the 'Flash Switch 3' command. Please remove the cable in port 12 after use.
Flashing Switch 4
This switch is situated ready for the rear eight cameras. To flash this switch on initial install, plug a 10G DAC cable between port 12 on Switch 4, and port 12 on Switch 2, then execute the 'Flash Switch 4' command. Please remove the cable in port 12 after use.
Switch reinstallation
Switches can also be flashed from stock on site, but only if there is one switch down. If there is more than one switch non-functional, you may need to reinstall the entire network stack. Complete factory reset can be performed by pressing and holding the RESET buttons on the switches until the beeping becomes constant (approx 5 seconds). Once this is done, the switch will be back in factory fresh state, and can be installed again using the Flash Switch commands.
In the cases of Switches 1, 3 and 4, follow the instructions for initial installation. For reinstalling Switch 2, plug a 10G DAC cable between port 12 on Switch 2 and port 12 on Switch 3 before executing the 'Flash Switch 2' command - this can be temporarily stolen from the ring cables if necessary. This will guarantee that the new switch will be able to be flashed from the currently active master, as it is extremely likely that the second master will be active in this situation. Please remove this cable after use and put it back to where it would normally be.
