FASTRec3D (Fast Aiming Smart Tracking Recorder) is a Python package allowing the recording of high resolution videos of flying insects by aiming the views of high speed cameras toward a flying insect while it is being tracked in real time (using Braid) by a set of lower speed cameras. The views of the high speed cameras are directed towards the flying insect using mirrors mounted on gimbals and placed in front of each high speed camera as well as focus controller used to automatically change the focus plane of each high speed cameras.

FLiTrak3D (or FLIT for “FLight Insect Tracker”) is a Python package that prepare video recordings to be used by DeepLabCut (simple 2D/3D tracking, cropping and stitching). Then use DeepLabCut to estimate the 2D coordinates of various bodyparts of a flying insect and fit a 3D skeleton to these 2D coordinates
